Watchung Restoration

Scotch Plains, NJ

The edges and borders of natural areas in our fragmented landscape are easily affected by invasive species and other challenges. This restoration project sought to remediate the edge between a collection of townhomes in Scotch Plains and the Watchung Reservation natural area. Invasive species were removed from the site, and native woody and herbaceous plants were densely planted to discourage new invasive seeds from taking root. The result is a woodland edge with wildflowers, pollinator activity, and beauty added to the community.
